Pennfield Township to examine major road resurfacing projects
Sep 2nd, 10
Calling the condition of local and secondary roads in Pennfield Township "dismissal at best", Pennfield Township Supervisor Rob Behnke announced today that the Township Boad would begin examing the possibility of bonding at least $4.8 million dollars for needed road repairs and maintenance in both 2010 and 2011.
"The number one complaint we receive today is about the condition of ours roads. The 2010 Paser Ratings Report simply supports what most of us already knew- the vast majority of our local and secondary roads are in poor condition".
The 2010 Paser Rating Report, as compiled by the Calhoun County Road Commission (CCRC), indicates that (96.35%) of local and secondary roads in Pennfield Township are ranked between FAILED and FAIR, (2.24%) were ranked GOOD and only (1.17%) were ranked VERY GOOD or EXCELLENT.
According to the CCRC, Pennfield Township has 64.010 miles of LOCAL AND SECONDARY ROADS and 28.56 miles of PRIMARY ROADS.
Primary roads include North Avenue, Pennfield Road, Morgan Road, White Rabbitt Road, Bellevue Road, Gorsline Road, McAllister Road (from Verona Road to N Drive North), East Avenue (from Morgan Road to Roosevelt) and Pine Lake Road. PRIMARY ROADS are maintained and serviced by the CALHOUN COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION.
M-66 and M-78 are not included in the report and are considered STATE TRUCKLINES and are maintained and serviced by the State of Michigan, Department of Transportation.
