2 programs to be cut this year by Pennfield Township

2 programs within Pennfield Township are scheduled to end this year due to budget restrictions.

Those programs include the monthly Recycling Bin and participation with AccessVision.

The monthly Recycling Bin costs Pennfield Township over $200.00 per month. The program is scheduled to end on September 1, 2010 unless additional monies can be raised within the community to help offset the cost. The Township is looking to raise approximately $700.00 to keep the program going through March of 2011.

Participation with AccessVision, which was originally approved in 2005, is scheduled to end on July 19th when the current agreement expires. Since 2005, Pennfield Township has provided AccessVision 60% of the 5% franchise fee received from Comcast Cablevision and AT&T. In FY 2009-10, this amounted to over $40,000.00. With cuts in State Revenue sharing, as well as decling property tax revenue, the Pennfield Township board felt that those monies would be better spent on Police and Fire services. The Township Board was also nudged by the fact that current AT&T U-verse customers do not have access to AccessVision even though a portion of their paid monthly bill is going to AccessVision under the current agreement. As of today, only Comcast customers have access to AccessVision.
