Township to consider ordinance change and ordinance creation

The Township Board will be considering changes to its current water and sewer ordinances this summer. According to Township Supervisor Rob Behnke, the changes will be first in many years. "It's critical that our ordinances are properly updated to the changing times".

The Township Board will also be considering the possible adoption of a Wellhead Protection Ordinance and Overlay District that would cover nearly 2/3rds of the Township. "Water is a precious commodity and we need to do everything we can to legally protect our groundwater". According to Supervisor Behnke, these ordinances would protect the groundwater for the Verona Well Fields as well as the two wells that make up the Pennfield Township municipal water system.
