Peddlers, Merchants and Solicitors Ordinance within Pennfield Township

As the weather begins to turn warmer, Pennfield Township will once again see its share of peddlers, merchants and solicitors knocking on our residential doors. It's very important to know that Pennfield Township does have a Peddlers, Merchants and Solicitors Ordinance that requires these folks to register with the Pennfield Township Office prior to any door to door solicitation.

The process requires each peddler, merchant and/or solicitor to fill-out necessary paperwork, be finger printed by the Police Department (a background check is run on each individual) as well as a fee of $ 25.00 per individual. Once this has been successfully accomplished, a certificate is issued to each solicitor by the Pennfield Township Office.

If someone comes to your door to peddle goods and/or services, you have the right to ask to see a copy of their certificate (as issued by Pennfield Township). If they cannot provide you this certificate, then they have not successfully registered with the Township Office. If this occurs, please call the Pennfield Township Office, or the Police Department, immediately.
