Solid Waste Program Announces May
Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Calhoun County invites residents to a household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, May 22, from 9 a.m.-Noon. The event will be held in the parking lot, one block behind the County Building located at 315 W. Green St. in Marshall. Accepted items include residential materials only.
Participants will be required to remain in their vehicles and wear masks while participating in our event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The following items will be accepted:
Household hazardous waste – oil-based paint and stain, fuels (must be in approved container), solvents, acids, bases, pesticides, household cleaners, metallic mercury, medications, sharps, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, smoke detectors, motor oil, antifreeze, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, aerosol cans, and PCB-containing lamp ballasts. No latex paint will be allowed.
Please separate allowable paint from the rest of your items and pack your items carefully, so they do not spill while in transport. Paint containers may not be able to be returned.

There will be a planned electrical outage we have scheduled for a small portion of Pennfield Township to replace poles and equipment. The outage is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. We have also set a back-up date for Friday, May 14th during the same time period in the event the work needs to be shifted for some reason.
The outage will affect 10 customers on the following streets:
Glendale Ave (#112 – 128)
Alton Ave. (#113 – 129)
North Ave. (#824)
All affected customers will receive a mailing notifying them in advance of the outage along with a number to call if they have any questions.
